Michael was born in Charlotte, NC. When he was five he was taken to Liberia, West Africa where his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Lyons were missionaries for 20 years. He graduated from high school in 1974 and attended Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, TN. He graduated in 1980 with a BA degree in Sacred Music. In his sophomore year during a Bible Conference that he accepted Christ as his savior. After graduation from college he did his internship in First Baptist Church, Rosemount, MN under the leadership of Dr. Ed. Johnson. It was while working in the church there that he met Amy. They were married in 1984.
     After getting married the Lyons served in two local churches as a youth pastor, music director and assistant pastor. During their ministry at First Baptist Church, Santa Maria, CA. the Lord began to burden their hearts for foreign missions. The Lyons were called to the mission field of Spain while serving in their local church in Santa Maria, CA. They served 19 years to the field of Spain. They are now serving with Tri-City Baptist Missions as International Representatives for la Universidad Cristiana de las Americas (UCLA) in Monterrey, Mexico.
     Michael travels and represents the university to other churches around the world. His chief goal is to promote the university in order to help with recruiting of staff and students.
