Eric and Valerie, both born in raised in southern West Virginia, met in high school and were married in 1992. Eric was saved at the age of 14 at a Christian camp and Valerie was saved at the age of 21. After they were married they found a good Bible-believing, Bible-preaching church in Nitro, WV where they ministered and grew in the Lord. It was during this time that the Lord blessed them with two daughters, Kristen and Kara, and also allowed Eric to visit Asia twice. During these two trips the Lord placed a burden in his heart for the people there. In 2004 they felt the call into full time ministry and moved to Independence, MO for Eric to attend Heart of America Theological Seminary. Upon graduation, the Lord called them to go and minister to the people of Asia.
